My heart overflows with a good theme;
I address my verses to the sovereign;
My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
– Psalm 45:1
The words of the mouth are deep waters;
the fountain of wisdom is a gushing stream.
– Proverbs 18:4
Written words surround us. From a quick text message to a multi-volume tome, words have found their way into written form since our early human history. Think about the sweet feeling of reading a handwritten note from one of the dearest people in your life. Go back to that great “vacation read” – you know, that fun and easy reading novel that helped you forget the cares of the world. Written words are just about everywhere – Emails, billboards, recipes, magazines, personal diaries, road signs, web pages, birthday cards, newsletters, Facebook, historical documents, tshirt slogans, and the Bible. We must remember, too, that it is pure blessing to be able to read and write.
“I am a little pencil in God’s hands. He does the thinking. He does the writing. He does everything and sometimes it is really hard because it is a broken pencil and He has to sharpen it a little more.”
– Mother Teresa
In the beginning (Genesis 1) God’s Word created. That Creative power of God’s Word continues today forming our hearts from within for outward expression. The ministries of Living Streams Flowing Water encourage the use of words for reflection, expression, discernment, and creative sharing as we gain even deeper understanding and experience in God’s Word. In addition to being a gifted writer, Brenda Buckwell is also a gifted teacher helping others find their own expressive words.
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
– Psalm 19:14
